On Sunday, March 15th, more than a hundred Nebraskans gathered to protest the massive spending in Washington. Meeting at Senator Ben Nelson’s Lincon office, protesters spoke out against the passage of the Stimulus Package, TARP, and the omnibus package ladden with pork.
This is what Angie S., one of the speakers at the event, had to say:
Welcome! My fellow Americans! I want to first take a moment to give a shout out to my daughter Jessica who is currently in training with the United States Navy, training to protect and serve our Country! Go Jessica!
We are so happy you all came out today to protest our government’s wasteful spending. Today I want to speak on the mortgage bail out. In August I was promoted in my job so my family moved to Syracuse. We had two homes for sale in Broken Bow. In January we sold one home and took a huge loss. We have one home to go. Those mortgages are my responsibility. I never asked the government for help! I had gotten myself into that position. It is my responsibility to get myself out! Where were the checks and balances when these banks approved these loans for people who borrowed more than they could afford? Actions do have consequences and these banks and borrowers should have to suffer those consequences not you and I. Our government bailing them out will only create a vicious cycle. These people and banks will not learn a lesson and will be back in the same situation in a very short time. We will be just flushing money down the toilet. My family lives on a strict budget. Every 2 weeks when we get paid, we sit down and pay our bills. When the checking account balance says zero, we stop spending money. Our governments answer is to borrow more. This does not stimulate us this puts us farther in debt with no way of clawing our way out. Let’s send the message to them today:
Balance your budget, live within your income, and stop all the pork and earmark spending!
When Senators voted on the $410 billion omnibus spending bill, Claire McCaskill (D-MO) voted against the package along with two other Democratic Senators.
“Evidently we made our point,” Kansas City Tea Party organizer Robert Ballard said of McCaskill’s defection from the democratic party line in the Senate. “We applaud McCaskill for recognizing the deep level of discontent in this country that’s being driven by President Obama’s desire to reshape America with an agenda we believe moves America toward a socialist society. We’re counting on Claire to continue her leadership in the fight against funding special interests and corruption in Washington D.C.”

Be sure to bring your signs, digital cameras, and video cameras. We will have a site that you can upload after the protest. Stay tuned.

Fellow Patriots,
We thank you for your interest and we welcome any asistance that you can provide.
There has been a protest scheduled for 2 PM Sunday March 15th at Ben Nelson’s office, 440 North 8th Street Suite 120, Lincoln, NE. This to let Ben know that we are very disapointed and angry with his support of the so called “Stimulous Package”. Please bring along a can of ”PORK” & Beans that we will collect and donate to a local Food Panty or Family Shelter.
If we are to be successful in saving this country for our children and grandchildren we must act now. We can either learn from the tactics that the left uses to influence legislation and win elections or we will face certain defeat again in 2 years. Those tactics are being very verbal, consistant action and effective use of the internet.
We, John and Conni Grieser, live in Broken Bow and our Daughter, Angela Slack, lives in Syracuse so we would appreciate as much involvement as possible from the Lincoln area.
The Boys State basketball tourney is over Saturday eve so are hoping that many from outstate will stay over and attend. We are making contacts with different political action groups, individuals and organizations. If you have any suggestions we would appreciate your input. We can either moan and complain or we can start to take action.
Can and will you help in this cause? Without passionate, commited and action oriented citizens who feel our leaders are heading in the wrong direction, we are at the mercy of those who do act. Please respond if there is any way you can help.
Please feel free to send this info on to all your contacts.
Together We Can Make a Difference!!!
